Friends of the Plano Public Library

Friends of the Plano Public Library is a non-profit, membership organization dedicated to supporting Plano libraries. Its mission is to serve as an advocate in developing, maintaining, and improving public library resources, services, and facilities for all patrons. Friends also support PPLS through fundraising activities and events.

Members promote Plano libraries and volunteers donate hundreds of hours working behind the scenes to host a variety of programs including the Annual Friends Book Sale. Funds raised are reinvested in the libraries. The Friends donated more than $70,000 to the Plano Public Library System last year.

Friends Fund Genealogy Collection
The Friends donated $20,000 to the Genealogy Collection located at Haggard Library at 2501 Coit Road. At the formal opening on Saturday, January 26, Fred Frawley, Friends President, presented the above check. To the right is Lee Dunlap, City Councilman, who turned out to support the opening. Lobby Sales
Year-round, gently used books and magazines are for sale in all Plano Public Library lobbies. You’ll want to check back regularly as new stock is donated frequently, and often recent books and magazines can be found. Hardbacks sell for $3, paperbacks for $1-$2 and magazines for $.25.

June 24 – A special evening with award-winning illustrator Terry Widener of McKinney, Texas. Terry has created illustrations for Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and various books. Click here for more information on this one-time event.
